Aaron Unthank

Aaron Unthank was recently named the winner of the 2007 CityJam Vocal Competition.

The 2007 CityJam Vocal Competition consisted of 25 contestants from Florida’s Bay Area and as far up the east coast as Charlotte, North Carolina. The two-night event featured a delightful variation of musical genres representing everything from jazz standards to country and pop to inspirational sounds.

Unthank’s prize package includes an all expenses paid trip to Nashville, Tennessee for a day of meetings with an executive from a major record label, a representative from a national distribution company, a session with vocal coach Brett Manning, a three day performance seminar with Tom Jackson, a fully produced and mastered radio quality single and many other prizes.

Aaron Unthank is no stranger to Gospel music. Unthank has logged many miles traveling the country singing all styles of Gospel music. Aaron was the original tenor of up-and-coming Southern Gospel favorites Sunday Edition as well as spending several years with the church-based pop vocal ensemble Spirit Bound before settling down with his family in Jacksonville, Florida where he is involved in church ministry.

Unthank has also began writing a monthly article for SoGospelNews.com, the Southern Gospel industry’s leading internet magazine. The article is based on church music and how it affects the Southern Gospel industry.

Aaron has also been on staff at the Steve Hurst School of Music as a vocal instructor for 10 years.
